Luca Addante (1970) worked at the University of Rome 2, at the EHESS in Paris, and at the University Ca' Foscari in Venice. He is currently an assistant professor of Early Modern History at the University of Turin.
His primary research interests are the figures and the dynamics of the political and religious dissent, from the most radical heretics to the libertines and from Campanella to the Carbonari. He also focused on analyzing the origin of modern liberties, Republicanism, Patriotism, and of the fortune of Machiavelli. His book “Eretici e libertini...”, published by Laterza in 2010, has been awarded “Federico Chabod” (2011) by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei as the best study in Medieval, Modern or Contemporary History.
