Jean-Pierre Cavaillé (1959) is Maître de Conférences at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (since 1999), Toulouse (LISST – CAS), where he teachs historical anthropology after being lecturer of intellectual history at the EHESS in Paris (CRH – GRIHL). 

His Research interests include the intellectual, cultural and social history in early modern Europe (16th -18th); History of philosophy (16th-17th); French, Italian, English and Neolatin literature (16th-17th); Historical anthropology early modern Europe; Historical anthropology of orality, improvisation and writing; History and sociology of linguistic minorities.

He is member of the Centre d’Anthropologie Sociale (Université de Toulouse 2 Jean-Jaurès, since 2014) and of the Groupe de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur l’Histoire du Littéraire (within Centre de Recherches Historiques), École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris (since 1999). Moreover is member of the Association Internationale d’Études Occitanes of the Association Universitaire des Langues de France (AULF).
